Infrastructure Migration - Wednesday 24th March

Posted on March 19th, 2010 13:04

For the last few months we’ve been working hard on designing & deploying a completely new Codebase server cluster. The new system gives us the power to provide faster response times in addition to massively increasing capacity on our systems.

We’ve been working on the new hardware for the last few weeks and we’re now ready to transitioning all data to the new servers.

At around 9am GMT on Wednesday 24th March, we’ll be taking Codebase offline for approximately 10 minutes to run the final data synchronisation. When we’re back online Codebase will be running on a new set of IP addresses and DNS will have been updated to reflect this. Users who use IP addresses for connecting to Codebase should be aware of this change. Old IP addresses will continue to direct traffic however may be slower due to the additional routes involved so we encourage everyone to ensure they are connecting directly to the new network.

As soon as the new cluster is live, we’ll be posting more information about how things are working and our partnership with our awesome new hosting provider.

In the meantime, you might like to check out some pictures on our flickr account.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the end result will be awesome!
